Pursuit of Happiness: Work & Play

“So if the college your kids go to isn’t that important, what is the key to helping them be successful in life? I am convinced it is largely one thing: encouraging them to discover their true calling – the one thing that totally engages their interest and passion. If you can help them do that, their natural curiosity, intelligence, and drive will take them the rest of the way.”

Master Copywriter Bob Bly in November 6 2007 “Early to Rise” Newsletter

The only problem I have with Bob Bly’s quote is that this idea doesn’t just apply to college kids. All of us will be more successful in life if we find our true calling and live in alignment with our passions and interests.

Pursuit of Happiness: Money

Many experts on personal finance, money management, and building wealth teach a common theme. They say giving is an important part of the foundation to a healthy relationship with money.

Gratitude: A Great Article I Found

Date November 21, 2007

With Thanksgiving just hours away, it crossed my mind I should post something about gratitude here. It’s especially a good idea since a grateful mindset improves mood and quality of life. But I noticed a friend and colleague, Amy Johnson, had just posted an article far better than what I could say. It’s on a Parenting Coaches’ blog which several of us have created together. Enjoy Amy’s words and check out the other articles when you have time. Click here for Amy’s article.

Pursuit of Happiness: Money

One of the big questions that comes up whenever you decide to change your life is, “Can I afford to do this?” This is especially true when you’re thinking about a career change or becoming a stay-at-home parent. There are lots of recommendations about cutting back to save up for a period of lower or unpredictable income, or to afford training or education. But they assume people know what they’re doing with their money each month. Most of us don’t. Read the rest of this entry »

We only have one head, but most of us have too many hats. Our society tells us that multi-tasking is the only way to get things done, so the more hats we can wear at once, the better. We get so busy planning and coordinating, running and supporting, heading up and volunteering, we end up with our heads spinning and the hats falling all around us. Read the rest of this entry »
